FM Bilawal urged developed countries to meet their climate finance commitments.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has stressed boosting economic and trade cooperation among Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.
He said this while addressing a virtual meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) of SCO countries on Tuesday.
The foreign minister stressed that building greater connectivity in the SCO region will help unlock the political and economic potential of intra-SCO cooperation. He pointed out that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor complements the SCO’s vision of shared prosperity through regional connectivity and integration.
Thanking SCO countries for expressing their solidarity and providing support to those affected by the floods in Pakistan, the Foreign Minister urged developed countries to meet their climate finance commitments to help developing countries to address climate change in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also stressed the need to tackle the scourge of terrorism in all its manifestations, including state terrorism. He stressed the importance of sustained and practical engagement with Afghanistan to help the Afghan people overcome the humanitarian and economic crises plaguing their country.
