Jakarta (ANTARA) – The government is encouraging inclusive and egalitarian economic growth whose benefits can be felt by economic actors at different levels.
Commerce Ministry official Widiantoro made the remark during a press conference on Indonesia’s shopping festival on Wednesday.
He urged major business players to help micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) so that their businesses can revive and recover after facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We can’t revive one while the others don’t. We have to revive and recover together,” he remarked.
The ministry currently has several programs that may involve working with commercial actors to accelerate the growth of the national economy.
Programs include creating partnerships between entrepreneurs, with MSMEs as offline and online retail providers, such as e-commerce platforms and marketplaces.

Another program is to develop partnerships between shopping centers and MSMEs. The objective is to give MSMEs and brands the opportunity to be present in strategic places in shopping centres.
Yet another program concerns digital transformation in the retail sector. Currently, entrepreneurs must see digital technology as a good opportunity amidst the challenge of being more adaptable over time.
“Trading players should be able to quickly utilize the e-commerce trend that aligns with the developing momentum,” Widiantoro remarked.
In addition, the government also partners with related parties to organize training and assistance programs on effective and efficient retail management for local retail players.
In addition to these programs, the ministry is very open to contributions and ideas from parties, including the Indonesian Mall Association (APPBI), to improve policies aimed at accelerating economic recovery.
APPBI will organize the Indonesia Shopping Festival from August 11 to 21, 2022 in several major cities in Indonesia to help the government accelerate the National Economic Recovery (PEN).
