The MoU was signed by Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Samer al-Khalil and Pakistani Ambassador to Damascus Saeed Muhammad Khan on behalf of Pakistan’s Minister of Commerce, according to SANA .
The five-year memorandum aims to find a mechanism for monitoring the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, including the implementation of investment projects, trade agreements, the organization of exhibitions and forums, and exploring opportunities and areas of cooperation.
Al-Khalil told reporters that relations between the two countries are experiencing tangible economic and commercial development.
He noted that the volume of trade between the two countries has doubled by 100% in the first nine months of the current year compared to the same period in 2020.
He said the joint working committees will be an important tool to raise the level of trade relations between the two countries and mobilize energies in the field of business sector to strengthen investment and trade.
The Pakistani ambassador, for his part, stressed that the memorandum of understanding will open new horizons of cooperation in the economic field and activate bilateral trade exchanges.
