The president of the FPCCI proposes the formulation of a “national economic and trade policy” to overcome the crisis


May 24, 2022: Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Chairman Irfan Iqbal Shaikh said on Tuesday that there are many business opportunities and capacities in the country but sustainable policies are needed.

Pakistan needs a national economic and trade policy which could not be affected by the change of government and we are going to present an economy charter in this regard,” he said at a dinner party. by the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI).

He called on all political parties, government and other stakeholders to work with them to formulate an economic and trade policy that would meet the challenges of the times ahead.

Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said that the country’s economic situation is not better and that our priority should be to end the economic crisis rather than the political crisis.

With strong determination and the best strategy we can emerge from the crisis, he said, adding that the government and political parties should work with them to formulate an economic and trade policy that would enable the country to move towards Development.

He suggested that political parties form shadow cabinets and prepare parallel budgets so that with the coordination of all stakeholders, the country can be brought on the path of development.

He said the electricity and gas problems and rising oil prices were affecting the country’s economy and the rising trend in the dollar rate was also increasing our debt burden.

Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said that if the dollar increases by one rupee, the country’s debt increases by 80 million, which seriously affects the economic conditions and tough decisions are needed to save the country’s economy.

Sheikh said there are more and more opportunities in the food and IT industries and to improve the economy there is a need to increase exports and reduce imports.

He stressed the need to address farmers’ grievances and set priorities to increase agricultural production.

He indicated that the FPCCI planned to organize an international economic conference for which a decision would be made soon.

Irfan Sheikh congratulated the new leadership of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and hoped the team would solve the problems of traders and industrialists.

Businessman Group Central Chairman Anjum Nisar, FPCCI Vice Presidents Haji Yaqub, Engineer Abdul Jabbar, HCCI Chairman Adeel Siddiqui, Mirza Iqbal Baig and others also addressed the occasion .
