Mexico City (VNA) – A delegation of 23 Vietnamese entrepreneurs, led by Vice Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, attended the Vietnam-Mexico Business Forum in Mexico City on July 4, aiming to seek cooperation opportunities with host country partners.

Foreign Trade Undersecretary of Mexico’s Secretariat of Economy Luz Maria de la Mora praised the bilateral economic and trade relations, saying that Mexico sees Vietnam as a strategic market in the Asia-Pacific region. Peaceful.

She expressed the hope that the authorized agencies of the two countries will continue to strengthen their close coordination in the coming times and that their businesses will effectively take advantage of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), thus helping to promote the bilateral trade turnover. than the post-pandemic economic recovery.

The official affirmed that the Mexican Secretariat for the Economy will create all favorable conditions and provide maximum support to the two business communities.

For his part, Vice Minister Hai said that Mexico is currently Vietnam’s second-largest trading partner in Latin America, and Vietnam is Mexico’s eighth-largest trader in Southeast Asia.

He cited statistics from the General Department of VietnamCustoms said bilateral trade turnover increased positively in 2021, reaching USD 5.06 billion, up 37.5 percent year on year. The figure reached USD 2.33 billion in the first five months of 2022, up 21.9% year-on-year.

Vietnam wants to further increase the value of trade and investment with Mexico, focusing on energy, telecommunications, high-tech agriculture and high value-added industries, Hai said.
