As the city that hosted the ninth BRICS summit in 2017, Xiamen in Fujian province launched a serial event in April 28aimed at highlighting the special products and humanities of the BRCIS countries – China, Brazil, Russia, India and South Africaas well as the enormous opportunities and the opening of the large Chinese market.
The serial event is seen as an important supporting event for China’s BRICS Year of Economy and Trade, which is designed to give full play to the advantages of online and offline platforms to boost the consumption.
The online platform, which relies on the CIFIT (China International Fair for Investment and Trade) online, displays products and the latest information from BRICS countries, and is connected to major e-commerce platforms for the sale of BRICS products.
The Xiamen The cross-border e-commerce industrial park has set up an 800-square-meter service center for products from BRICS countries on the offline platform. More than 700 products from BRCIS countries have been collected by the center so far.
In addition, by the end of May, the service center plans to hold a live sales event with star products, cultural customs, economic and trade exchanges and product circulation with China and the other four BRICS countries.
The event is also seen as a favorable occasion for the representatives Xiamen companies to engage in import and export trade with BRICS countries.
Xiamen ITG Group Corp, for example, signed a cooperation agreement with Klabin SA, a Brazilian company, during the launch ceremony.
In 2021, Xiamen ITG Group Corp’s import and export volume with other BRICS countries totaled $3 billionwhich has deepened China’s cooperation with other BRICS countries in areas such as commodity circulation, currency circulation and economic information circulation, as well as fueling international and domestic dual circulation.
Considering this event as a new beginning, Xiamen will step up efforts to deepen cooperation in the economic and trade sector with BRICS countries and improve the internationalization of the city.
